Welcome, visitor! I am John Gossett and I am a freelance writer. I offer to you my gift of crafting stories so that your enterprise can reach a wider audience.

My earliest working memory is of slogging thirty-foot aluminum irrigation pipes from cool clinging mud to searing sand on my grandfather’s cotton farm in west Texas. To escape the mud I enlisted in the U.S. Army where I spent twelve years witnessing wares delivered in crates stacked impossibly high on bicycles in Seoul Korea, and tottering even higher on wagons pulled by dusty donkeys in Cairo, Egypt.

My worldview has been augmented by a lifelong love of the written word, from the youngster who devoured every Louis L’Amour western in our tiny school library, to the young adult who traveled time and space with Heinlein and Herbert, to the man who shared the suffering of people in poverty and war as described by Steinbeck and Tolstoy, while at the same time wondered at the strength we as humans have to survive and endure.

I learned early that I have the gift of being able to clearly present ideas in written form. That has served me well throughout my life. Whether it was clearly communicating with superiors and subordinates in all my professions, writing poetry and lyrics for my own enjoyment, or writing reams of technical documents as a computer engineer, I strove always to convey written content that met the needs of the target audience.

After retiring from computer engineering in 2018, I came to realize that I still have the desire to express myself and keep my mind sharp by writing, and thus, my retirement became my newest career change. The blogs you see here represent my thoughts on many topics and I offer to you my writing skills and passion for life to help you present your story to the broader world.
